Video: Japan GT Championship 2002 Race 6 Highlights

Japan's Big Three car manufacturers were the dominant force in the Japan GT Championship but that didn't keep smaller teams from getting some of the glory. Round six of the 2002 season would show that with a privateer Mclaren F1 GT-R grabbing pole in the GT500 class.

Mid-engine cars from privateer teams and boutique sports car manufacturers would also take pole and third on the grid in the GT300 class.

All of this promised a tightly fought and frenetic race with the bigger teams trying to reassert their dominance – especially Honda since the Motegi Twin Ring that was hosting the race is one of their home tracks.

Please enjoy another round of awesome JGTC racing!
